Congratulations Hannah!

As reported by the Herald Mail Media, Pageants News, and WTOP,  Hannah Brewer , previously Miss Teen USA 2013, was just crowned Miss Maryland at The Maryland Theatre in historic Downtown Hagerstown, Maryland.  As Hannah’s portrait photographer, it’s awesome to have been able to contribute in some small way to Hannah’s success.

Why Does This Image Work So Well?  Diagonals

In addition, to Hannah’s natural beauty, there are many factors working in this image. Eyes closed creates a feeling that we are witnessing a private moment. Perhaps she is not aware that we are looking at her. I positioned her beautiful dark hair on one side, on a diagonal, to frame her face.

Elbows and knees bent, notice how her jaw line angles down and is mirrored by the angles in her arms ….. notice her arched back and chest out. This stuff doesnt usually happen by accident. Of course my strobe light is positioned to accentuate her beauty, causing her skin to glow, and casting strategically placed shadows.  Just love this image!
